Local Alumni Group Sends Off
El Paso Area Freshmen to UT Austin

EL PASO, TEXAS, AUGUST 10, 2017 – About 160 area high school graduates have been admitted to the University of Texas at Austin this fall and have been invited to celebrate with El Paso area alumni at a Student Send-off Celebration.

The Texas Exes El Paso Chapter holds the annual celebration to show support from the local community for all students who have been admitted to UT and give local alumni a chance to introduce incoming students to the UT family. The Send-Off  is  also an  opportunity  for  students  to  meet  other  students  from  their hometown who will also be on campus.

El Paso Chapter President Andrew Reynoso says that the alumni group wants to help send a message to the parents that while UT is large, they care about their sons and daughters and want them to feel comfortable sending them to Austin.

“As alumni of the University of Texas at Austin, we love sending the next generation of Longhorns off to the Forty Acres,” Reynoso said. “This celebration is a chance for us to wish them well and an opportunity for freshmen and their parents to ask questions of all of us who have done this before.”
